A roadmap built for you
Four stages, with modules and lessons in the right order and no gaps, paced to your goal and the time you have each week.
Complete lessons, not summaries
Why it matters, core concepts, worked examples, common mistakes and key takeaways, written at exactly your level. Stuck? Ask your tutor about any part of the lesson.
Practice that sticks
Every lesson ends with exercises of rising difficulty. Answers stay hidden until you've had a real go.
Math and code, done properly
Equations are typeset and code is syntax-highlighted, so technical topics read like a good textbook.

Tick off lessons, watch each stage fill up, and jump straight back to where you left off.
Your AI, your choice

How compound interest works
Worked example
A savings account pays 5% interest a year, compounded yearly. How much does $1,000 grow to in 3 years?
Everything you need to know before you start. Still curious? Try it yourself.
What does it cost?
Personal Tutor is free during early access, using your own AI account, so you pay your provider directly, typically a few cents per lesson. Paid plans are coming later, with a free trial: Pro at $20 a month with AI included, so no API key is needed, or Own Key at $10 a month with your own key. We'll let you know before anything changes. Opening a lesson you've already generated is always free.
Which AI can I use?
Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (GPT), Google (Gemini) or xAI (Grok). Connect one or several in Settings, choose which model writes your lessons and which answers your questions, and switch on the spot. If one is busy, your backup takes over.
Is my API key safe?
Your key is encrypted before it's stored and is never sent back to your browser. Only its last four characters are ever shown, and you can remove it whenever you like.
What can I learn?
Almost anything: programming, languages, music, finance, science, cooking, hobbies. If a topic could mean several things, your tutor picks the most common meaning and tells you so.
How long does it take to get started?
Your roadmap is ready in about a minute. Each lesson is written the first time you open it, streaming in as you read, and is saved for next time.
Can I learn more than one topic?
Yes. Every topic gets its own roadmap and progress, and your dashboard shows them all side by side.
Getting an API key
An API key is a long password that lets an app use your AI account. Personal Tutor uses it to write your roadmaps, lessons and answers, and your AI provider bills you directly, usually a few cents per lesson. Not sure which to pick? Google Gemini has a free tier for trying things out; Anthropic's Claude is our recommendation for the best lessons.
How do I get a key from Anthropic (Claude)?
Our recommended choice for lesson quality. Pay as you go with prepaid credit.
Go to the Anthropic Console (console.anthropic.com) and sign up with your email or Google account.
Open Settings, then Billing, and buy some credit. $5 to $10 is plenty to start. A Claude.ai Pro plan doesn't include API credit; it's billed separately.
Open Settings, then API keys, and click Create key. Name it something like "Personal Tutor".
Copy the key (it starts with sk-ant-). It's only shown once, so paste it straight into Personal Tutor.
Then, in Personal Tutor, go to Settings, pick your provider, paste the key and click Connect. We check the key works before saving it, encrypt it, and never show it again. Keep your key private, like a password. On your provider's billing page you can set a monthly spending limit, and you can delete a key there at any time.
