Privacy
What Personal Tutor stores about you, why, and how to delete it.
What we store
- Your account: your name, email address and a scrambled (hashed) version of your password. We never store your password itself.
- Your learning: the topics you choose, your answers to the set-up questions, your roadmaps, the lessons written for you, your progress, and your conversations with the tutor.
- Your AI keys, if you add any: encrypted before they're stored, and never shown again in full.
- Usage records: how many roadmaps, lessons and questions you've used, which topic each was about, and how many AI tokens they took, to apply daily limits and plan allowances, and so the site owner can see how the service is used and keep it fairly priced. The owner sees these counts per account, never your lesson text or chats. Kept for about 13 months.
- Security records: recent login and sign-up attempts, with your network address and a scrambled form of the email, to stop password guessing and spam. Deleted after one day. Links we email you are deleted soon after they're used or expire.
Who processes it
- AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google or xAI) receive what's needed to write your roadmap, lessons and answers: your topic, set-up answers, the lesson and your questions. With your own key, your account with that provider applies. On the Pro plan or free trial, ours does.
- Email: confirmation and password-reset emails are sent through Resend.
- Bot protection: Cloudflare Turnstile checks that sign-ups and logins come from a person.
- Payments, once subscriptions start, are handled by Stripe. We never see your card number.
We don't sell your data or use it for advertising, and we don't use advertising cookies.
